Volvo Semi Truck Recall due to Steering Defect
A truck recall by Volvo has been announced because of a steering defect that may be a contributing factor in a semi truck accident, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced. More than 63,000 model year 2001 – 2006 trucks are affected by this Volvo recall.
“Volvo Trucks is recalling certain model year 2001-2006 VNL and VNM trucks manufactured with a TRW sealed drag links. Certain factors can exist, which if left untreated, may result in a ball socket separation,” according to the NHTSA safety recall announcement. “Ball socket separation at the drag link results in complete loss of steering, and therefore, can result in a vehicle crash.”
Dealers will inspect ball sockets and drag link and make necessary repairs. Owners may contact Volvo.

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulates commercial vehicles such as trucks, and their drivers. These include provisions that regulate truck parts and the proper functioning thereof. Semi truck and tractor trailer safety lawyers must have a thorough knowledge of these regulations–this is an important factor to consider when a truck accident victim is searching for a truck accident injury lawyer.
